For some field research, I will probably interview both of my parents and my brother-in-law. All of them were victims of some sort of identity theft.
Some sample questions I would ask:
How were you a victim of identity theft?
How did this affect your life?
How long did it take to clear everything up?
What was the outcome?
Is there anything you do differently now to protect yourself from future identity theft?
I will be looking for how they were victims and what they plan to do differently in the future, maybe to help bring awareness to the government on ways we can prevent this from happening in the first place.

It would also be interesting to find out if the victims know at what point their information was obtained/stolen. I know credit card use in restaurants is a huge problem.
Some type of survey may be interesting too.
I'm sorry to hear your family was victims of fraud. I am interested to hear how your interview goes and what your parents have to say.
